WE SAY NO: TWO MINUTES TO KNOCK DOWN THE 700 MILE BORDER

February 7, 2007, Los Angeles, Ca — The Ministry of Culture presents: WE SAY NO! How would you knock down a 700 mile border in two minutes?
WE SAY NO! is an open mike video forum which will record each and every person who wishes to express their views — in two minutes — on the proposed United States/ Mexico border fence. The public is invited to speak out on Sunday, March 4th from Noon to 4:00 pm at the IMIX Bookstore in Eagle Rock. The collected footage will then be edited to be part of a documentary on immigration issues and snippets will be used online for educational and publicity purposes to highlight this extremely volatile issue.
The Ministry of Culture presents this project in collaboration with IMIX Bookstore, and Patricia Cunliffe, of Joie de Vivre Productions, a noted independent filmmaker and freelance journalist (A Language of Passion, Are We Criminals?).
The Ministry of Culture is a random collective of artists, creative individuals and activists who have banded together to provide a new independent cultural venue for all to express themselves through artistic projects. The GREAT WALL OF CHINGA, is the first of such projects curating a creative response to the proposed border barrier, and WE SAY NO! is next in a series of other satirical agit-prop projects. “The group is committed to ‘social messaging’ (this itself is mockery upon the latest language abuse from the corporate marketing world) through satire, and are truly dedicated to addressing critical issues of social justice by mocking the deciders” notes Ministry of Culture Architect of Folly, Tomas Benitez.

The pubic is encouraged to drop by the bookstore on a first come first served basis and offer their two minute thoughts on the recently approved international barrier. Free public and street parking. All participants under the age of 18 must have written permission of their parents or guardians to appear on camera.
